You know, I want to help my country. Definitely I can help them, simply by winning races. Sure, they can follow my path to a good career. But for me it is not enough. I want to be more than that. In everything I want to be a role model.
I think that role model is kind of a weird thing because obviously you are, but I try to make good choices and good decisions for myself for me to have a good life. If that inspires someone else, that is great, but I think you should do good for yourself and your own happiness.
Being a role model is equal parts being who you actually are and what people hope you will be.
The best thing I could do is build a successful company and continue to innovate and be in the right role I want to be in. If I’m not doing that, I’m inauthentic. That’s not a good role model to anyone. That, to me, is the most important thing.
A role model is an imperfect person, not a perfect person, because that’s who we are as real people.
Beginning today, set an intention and a relentless focus on living your life as the greatest person you can be, in all situations. Demand that you demonstrate a strength of character in such a way that you find pride in who you are, and that others see you as a role model.

The role model thing gets imposed on you by someone else. I don’t think that’s fair.
I think what people love about the Steve Jobs story is not just the track record at Apple, but that comeback story, that he was thrown out of Apple, came back and built the company even greater. And that perseverance is so important in terms of entrepreneurship. And nobody is a better role model for that, for all entrepreneurs all over the world than Steve Jobs.
I try to be myself and, of course, be a good role model. I don’t really find it hard, but you think about what you do and that other people look up to you.

It’s very flattering to see a kid wear your T-shirt; it’s even more flattering to have a dad come up to you and say, ‘I watch you with my kid. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re a role model for my son.’
