I hope that I can be a role model and positive influence to anyone else who is struggling with insecurities within themselves.
I’m discovering, and I think other mums are discovering too, that when you become a mum, you don’t have to change into this frumpy, wholesome role model who is perfect and loses all of your identity. You can still have the same personality you’ve always had.
In terms of being a role model, I didn’t start out to be one. I don’t go to work every day with that in mind. But, I do get a lot of fan mail from young girls.
I don’t really consider myself a celebrity. I consider myself more of a role model.
I think what people love about the Steve Jobs story is not just the track record at Apple, but that comeback story, that he was thrown out of Apple, came back and built the company even greater. And that perseverance is so important in terms of entrepreneurship. And nobody is a better role model for that, for all entrepreneurs all over the world than Steve Jobs.
I try to be myself and, of course, be a good role model. I don’t really find it hard, but you think about what you do and that other people look up to you.
The best thing I could do is build a successful company and continue to innovate and be in the right role I want to be in. If I’m not doing that, I’m inauthentic. That’s not a good role model to anyone. That, to me, is the most important thing.
I honestly do feel that I am a role model for young people.
In terms of pure acting, my role model has always been Philip Seymour Hoffman; I really always loved what he did. I love what Mark Ruffalo does. When I was younger, I liked Cate Blanchett a lot. These are all actors who are given stories and allowed to carry the whole story.
First of all, I try to be a positive role model.

Meadowlark Lemon’s book Trust Your Next Shot is written by a remarkable person. I have had the pleasure of knowing Meadowlark for quite some time. He has given back to his community quite generously in addition to serving as an outstanding role model for young people. Meadowlark’s career has allowed him to touch people’s lives everywhere and I am so proud to be his friend. God has certainly touched his life.
I don’t think of myself as a role model. I do try to live in a compassionate, considerate and positive way. The only advice I can offer is to find what you love to do, find the joy in it, and express yourself through your passion.
