But again, we, I think, over the years have set the example for a lot of nations that may not have had the same values, the same type of coming out of the same culture that we as Americans have and enjoy. But we can be an example, a role model to them.
It’s sad but true that if you focus your attention on housework and meal preparation and diapers, raising children does start to look like drudgery pretty quickly. On the other hand, if you see yourself as nothing less than your child’s nurturer, role model, teacher, spiritual guide, and mentor, your days take on a very different cast.
I don’t have a role model, but I certainly have always enjoyed Neil Young. I had the great pleasure and opportunity to watch him from the side of the stage on a couple of occasions, and his on-stage sound is incredible.
I grew up watching Salman Khan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who have always juggled fitness with acting. In real life, I’m a fitness freak. Besides, it is nice to look at an actor who is fit, and if you become a role model, that’s a perk.
I know that I’m a role model for a lot of people, and I’d like to be. I know that there are people who probably don’t agree with how I think or how I see myself and my place in this world. That’s OK.

The documentary we are working on is about my mother, Bev Umehara, for whom our film company, Bev’s Girl Films, is named after. It is a passion project that I have wanted to make since her unexpected passing in 1999. The film is about my mother’s calling which came late in life, at 47, when she made the sudden transformation from a humble hardworking secretary and mother of four, into a labor activist, a respected union leader, and a role model for rank-and-file workers, women of color, and for all Asian Pacific Americans.

I’d like to put the record straight about that. I’ve been labelled an irresponsible role model for young mothers, but none of it is true. I couldn’t even walk for two weeks after the birth, let alone exercise. I ate very healthily all the way through my pregnancy and afterwards. I didn’t do anything extreme.
Hilary Duff has been my role model forever. I went to her concert like right when her music started coming out when I was probably like 11. I was just amazed by her. So now, to be compared to her, it’s like…holy moly. It’s so cool!
To all my young fans out there, I ask that you no longer consider me a role model. See me as an individual who had the opportunity to be a role model but blew it. Blew it with irresponsible, irrational, immature decisions.
If I can be a role model, or if I can maybe make another manager play a young player coming through rather than buy a player, that’s incredible.
Being a role model is the most powerful form of educating. Youngsters need good models more than they need critics. It’s one of a parent’s greatest responsibilities and opportunities.
My father… very generous, very philanthropic, very charitable man. My siblings and I and my mother continue with always appreciating and always giving back. It’s something I hope that I’ve become a role model for my children.
When you’re a musician and you go out onstage, and you’re someone who loves attention, you are going to become a role model to some extent.
I think everyone needs to be a role model, period.
Being a role model is the most powerful form of educating.
